Grant Recipients - December 2006
Ducks Unlimited Canada: This grant is for Project Webfoot – an education program (in-class and a field trip) for Grade 4 students. Field trips are held in May and June. Approximately 100 students from four Grade 4 classes will take part in both the in-class and field trip components.
Fredericton Area Watersheds Association (FAWA): This grant is for the Kids Can Grow – Building Community One Plant at a Time project. This project will work with youth at risk, providing means for them to participate in community forestry activities.
Kids Help Phone – Atlantic Region: This grant is for training for the Kids Help Phone Student Ambassador Program. There are currently no Student Ambassadors in the Fredericton area schools
John Howard Society/Street Outreach Team: This grant is for the City Voucher Campaign. This pilot project will have at-risk or near homeless persons work for participating downtown businesses and be reimbursed with redeemable vouchers from Superstore and Sobeys. This is a project by the Street Outreach Team which is made up of representatives from the John Howard Society, the Fredericton YMCA and the Community Health Clinic.
NB Internment Camp Museum: This grant will be used for the completion of the historic trail; replacement of signage, and the printing of a historic book.
International & Social Development Dept., Fredericton YMCA: This grant application is for two months of operational expenses for the Street Outreach Worker.
Parkinson Society Maritime Region: This grant application is for the Porridge for Parkinson’s fundraising breakfast. This event raises funds for the national research program. The Breakfast will be held on April 21, 2007.
Forest Hill Cemetery Company: This grant is for the crane rental to restand a monument. The monument was originally erected in memory of Senator David Wark.
Theatre New Brunswick: This grant is for costumes for the production of The Sound of Music. This production is being put on through the TNB Theatre School.
Harvest Jazz & Blues – Music in Schools Program: This joint grant between Harvest Jazz & Blues and the Fredericton Community Foundation will go to the South Devon Elementary School. This school’s application was for assistance with instruments, sheet music, cultural resources, musical theatre, classroom resources, music games, teacher resources, dance and music history. It is felt that this application will infuse a new spirit of musical learning throughout all the children in this K-5 school.
Fredericton Community Kitchen: This grant provides financial assistance for the installation of a new range hood over kitchen stoves, new exhaust fans & CO2 unit as well as a new intake ventilation system for the walk-in freezer & cooler.
