August 2008 Grants
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS (BBBS)
This grant is for the Big Bunch mentoring program. Big Bunch is a group mentoring program for children waiting to be matching with a mentor. Group activities are organized and supervised by adult volunteers.
CDN. PARAPLEGIC ASSOCIATION (NB) INC.
This grant is for the CPA’s Measure Up! project.
The Measure Up! project goal is to enhance accessibility for persons with disabilities in Fredericton.
CHIMO
This grant is for Chimo’s Volunteer Training Program. The Training Program is 2 full weekends as well as 12 more hours of in-house training for a total of 44 hours.
POSITIVE HEART LIVING
This grant is for Positive Heart Living’s project, Healthy Communities – Nancy and Nutrition Tree. Positive Heart Living will purchase the books and launch the book in Fredericton and then implement it into the School system.
THE FREDERICTON PLAYHOUSE
This grant is for the Arts for Everyone project. The goal of this project is to provide free or subsidized access to performances at the Playhouse to disadvantaged or marginalized groups. Funds will be used for ticket subsidization.
OROMOCTO & AREA SPCA
This grant is to assist with the furnishings for the Oromocto & Area SPCA’s new shelter.
COMMUNITY HEALTH CLINIC
This grant is for repairs to the Clinic’s entryway, a new sign, and updating office equipment.
FRONTIER COLLEGE FREDERICTON
This grant is for 2 projects. One project brings seniors out to read with the children at the YMCA’s After School program; the other project is providing tutors (university students) to Fredericton area community centers to assist with homework, etc. This grant will be used transportation of the seniors and the tutors.
LE CENTRE COMMUNAUTAIRE SAINTE-ANNE
This grant is for La Maison des jeunes, which is a meeting place for francophone and Francophile youth as well as Immersion students. Funds will be used for items such as art supplies, kitchen necessities, books and resources.
CANADIAN COUNCIL OF THE BLIND
This grant is for the Tech Cane project which will provide laptop computers to the local blind community through the CCB Computer Club.
