SCHOLARSHIP FOR PERFORMING ARTS - June 15, 2010

Grant Recipients - April 2009

HAWKINS / NEVILLE TENANTS ASSOCIATION
This grant is for their application is for their Summer Camps 2009 project. They hope to send 6 - 10 children to Greenhill Lake Camp.

DOONE STREET WILSON ROW TENANTS ASSOCIATION
This grant is for their 2009 Summer Program and will be used to cover the cost of arts & craft supplies, movie rentals, snacks, registration/entry fees and decorations.

PARTNERS FOR YOUTH
This grant is for their Send a Child to Camp project. The camp is for youth with risk factors in their lives and this grant will cover the cost of sending 3 youth and 2 children from the Fredericton area.

BRIDGES OF CANADA-BAR NONE CAMP
This grant is for the subsidization of 15 children from the Fredericton area to attend the Bar None Camp. The Bar None Camp is for “at risk” children and over 150 underprivileged children will participate in this camp this year.

NATURE NB
This grant is for their Summer Youth Nature Camps and will be used to subsidize 4 children from the Fredericton area.

FRONTIER COLLEGE
This grant is for Frontier College’s Homework Clubs in Fredericton located at Wilson Row Tenants Association, Perry Court Tenants Association and George Street Middle School. Many of the volunteer tutors are university students and there are currently 43 children and 20 tutors participating in the program. This grant will be used for the recruitment, screening, training and support of the volunteer tutors.

MINLAK TRAINING PROGRAMS INC.
This group works with disabled adults teaching life skills and job readiness skills in the Minto/Chipman area.
This grant will be used to expand their services and program.

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF NB
This grant is for the Self Sustainability for Fredericton’s Youth project, more specifically, the Economics for Success program by JA. This grant will assist with the cost of 20 programs delivered to approximately 640 middle and high school students in the Fredericton area

NB SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL
This grant is for the Community Concert Series which are free, family oriented concerts. Funds will be used for fees, materials and technical support.

Unsolicited Grants
The Grantmaking Committee awarded three unsolicited grants from the Community Fund. These funds are to be used on a project of the recipient’s choice. The three recipients are:

The Grantmaking Committee also awarded three unsolicited grants from the Covey Fund. These funds are to be used on a music related project of the recipient’s choice. The three recipients are:
