Donor Recognition
Donor recognition is both an obligation and an opportunity: an obligation to acknowledge and thank our donors and an opportunity to secure, strengthen and perpetuate – to steward – the relationship with our donors.
An effective recognition and stewardship program strives to achieve the following:
1. To say thank you to our planned giving donors, to show appreciation and to recognize their planned gift.
2. To be able to thank our donors during their lifetime, thereby strengthening the relationship.
3. To secure gifts, in particular, bequests.
4. To persuade donors to think of revocable gifts as irrevocable gifts.
5. To create a relationship with our donors that could possibly lead to further gifts.
6. To motivate involvement of our donors with our Community Foundation.
7. To allow for testimonials.
8. To inspire others to give.
Unsolicited Donations
From time to time the Foundation receives donations that are not designated for a particular endowment fund. The following policy governs the handling of these types of donations.
Undesignated donations up to $1,000
Donations up to $1000 shall be designated as donations to the Community Fund.
Undesignated donations over $1,000
The Fund Development Committee will determine into which fund to place these donations.
