The Blanchard’s Story
The Blanchard Family is like many families in our community. They work, care for children and enjoy the many sights and sounds our community has to offer. They own a home and a vehicle and have occasion to travel for vacations.
The one thing the Blanchard’s have not done is forget that many are not as fortunate in our city. Each day, they see the struggles of poverty and the challenges faced by those who do not have homes, jobs or even food for each meal. They do not judge these people for where they are in life, they merely understand that whatever the circumstance, the poor and vulnerable have hit a low point and need help.
After seeing the need in our city, Rene, Lori and their son wanted to make a difference. They wanted to do something more than drop money in a cup or buy a coffee for the vulnerable. With some family discussion, they decided to establish an endowment fund with the Fredericton Community Foundation. This fund, the Blanchard Family Poverty Reduction Fund, is a Field of Interest Fund. The annual grant from this fund will go to a local charity that works with and for the poor. While the charity may differ from year to year, the impact of the grant to any given charity will help carry out the mandate of making life a little more comfortable, safe and secure for those who are in need.
This fund will be a legacy to the Blanchard Family for many years and the impact on the community will be felt by those most in need. On behalf of the charities that do the work and the individuals receiving the help, we say Thank You for your understanding and generosity.
