A Small Gathering, A Big Thank You

Kindness Week is often filled with public moments: School visits, shared coffee, posters coloured, and food donations dropped off.

But on Wednesday, February 18, we had the opportunity to slow down for something quieter.

We hosted a small morning gathering to thank some of the donors who help make our work possible. It wasn’t a formal event, just coffee, locally baked treats, and time to connect.

As guests arrived, the room was set with our Kindness Week posters and bingo cards. Conversations quickly turned to what was happening across the city. What began as a simple thank-you breakfast became something more, a reminder that the generosity we celebrate during Kindness Week already exists here all year long.

The most meaningful part of the morning wasn’t what was served. It was the conversations. People sharing stories. Meeting one another. Asking thoughtful questions. Reflecting on the many ways kindness shows up in our community.

We shared a few words about why Kindness Week matters to us, not as something we own, but as something we champion. Because the Fredericton Community Foundation exists thanks to a network of people who care deeply about this place: donors, charities, students, businesses, volunteers, neighbours.

Every act of generosity, whether it’s a gift to a fund, a shared coffee, a donated bag of food, or a simple conversation, strengthens that network.

Kindness Week gives us a reason to gather and celebrate visible acts of kindness. But it also gives us space to say thank you.

Thank you to the people who support our work.
Thank you to the organizations we partner with.
Thank you to everyone who chooses, in big and small ways, to invest in this community.

Moments like this remind us that generosity isn’t just something we talk about.

It’s something we share. And we’re grateful to share it with you.
