A Summer Full of Good

Summer may be over, but the impact of a season spent creating, exploring and belonging is just getting started.

There’s something special about summer in the greater Fredericton region. The days get longer, adventures move outdoors, and across our community, young people find new places to play, learn, create and connect. 

This summer, we saw some of those moments firsthand. 

From splashing around at the park with Camp Marvel, to exploring the New Brunswick wilderness at Camp Tippy Canoe, to turning up the volume at Girls+ Rock Camp, summer looked a little different everywhere we went. 

While each experience was unique, they shared a common thread: community support that helped make it all possible. 

Through our 2026 Community Grants, the Fredericton Community Foundation invested $17,500 across these three initiatives, part of more than $249,446 granted to 53 local charities this year.  

At Camp Marvel(Autism Connections), 98 children with autism were supported through subsidized recreational programming, with each camper receiving 35 hours of individualized mentorship and support. With a 1:1 camper-to-counsellor ratio, activities could be tailored around each child's needs, whether that meant splashing in the water, heading for the slides or simply enjoying some sunshine. 

For 140 youth at Camp Tippy Canoe (Partners for Youth), exploring the New Brunswick wilderness went hand in hand with building confidence, relationships and leadership skills. And those connections can last well beyond summer: the camp is part of year-round programming that can support young people for more than 10 years. 

And at Girls+ Rock Camp (Charlotte Street Arts Centre), summer got a little louder. The week-long camp is part of ArtReach, a barrier-free, artist-led program that creates opportunities for newcomer, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+ and equity-deserving youth to explore music and photography. Across ArtReach's 2026 programming, 100 young people will receive training and mentorship, empowering them to develop their skills, confidence and creative voices. 

Different summer experiences, but together, they show what community investment can make possible: $17,500 helping fund opportunities for young people to explore, create, connect and belong.

In 2026, our Community Grants grew by 36%, allowing us to invest more than $249,446 in 53 local charities working across our community. 

Summer went fast. The good keeps going.
