Kindness Week 2022

This year was our biggest Kindness Week to date, with over 100 businesses and countless individuals in the community taking part and spreading the kindness. Thank you all for demonstrating what it truly means to be #FrederictonKind.

Although Kindness Week has officially come to an end, kindness is something that should be thought of year round. We encourage you all to incorporate these random acts of kindness into your daily life and share them with others.

Here are a few kindness acts that we got to visit during the week!

GLOBAL PET FOODS NB

Global Pet Foods NB hosted their Show Us Your Heart fundraiser. Each of their stores chose an animal related charity to fundraise donations for. From Feb 11th - 27th they asked all customers to make a donation to these charities.

JUMPING JACKS CHILDREN’S BOUTIQUE

Jumping Jacks Children's Boutique really took action this Kindness Week and performed multiple acts of kindness! Their first kindness act was Valentine’s Day colouring sheets which were then given to local nursing home residents to brighten their Valentine’s Day. They also hosted a Hearts for Healthcare wall where they decorated their windows in hearts with messages and words of encouragement for our front line health care workers. Throughout Kindness Week, they hosted a 15% off sale for essential workers and supporters of the store. Year round they try to encourage kindness with their Pay It Forward section and free library.

REGENT MALL

Regent Mall helped spread some kindness this Kindness Week by surprising some random shoppers with $25 gift cards to the mall.

FREDERICTON PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Fredericton Public Library took part in spreading the kindness by hosting a positivity wall where they put up encouraging messages and ran a good deeds contest where people could send their good deeds via email to be put into a draw for a gift card for themselves and a friend. They also gave out bee kind rock kits and held a donation drive to fill their community fridge.

THE TIPSY MUSE CAFE

The Tipsy Muse Cafe created a kindness wall in which you could buy an item for a friend or stranger and put it on the wall for them to claim. The wall was created in memory of Berry Hemphil, an artist and musician who always radiated kindness.

THE RIGHT CHOICE REALTY

The team at The Right Choice Realty were very busy this past week preforming various acts of kindness around Fredericton! From paying parking meters, sending kindness mail, and making donations, to sharing some encouraging messages with early morning commuters - this team really showed some kindness! They also hosted a give away for an essential worker to win one of three $100 dining gift cards.

KING WEST BREWING & RUSTICO.

King West Brewing & RustiCo. gave back to the community this Kindness Week by providing a free lunch for the team at River Stone Recovery Centre.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY FREDERICTON

Habitat for Humanity Fredericton Area handed out treats and kindness notes to their customers on February 14th at the Habitat ReStore. Though the week customers could also fill out a ballot for their prize draw on February 18th - but there was a twist! Rather than entering your own name, you had the opportunity to submit someone else’s name who made your life a little brighter.

Habitat for Humanity Fredericton Area also keeps the kindness going throughout the year as a non-profit charitable organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Thanks to generous community support, they currently have 44 partner families in homes across our region – and plan to house another six families this year! While each family’s story is unique, having a secure, affordable, energy efficient home makes a significant positive impact for all.

Now, more than ever before, it is so very important for families to have the security of an affordable home of their own
