Our Grant Types


The Fredericton Community Foundation supports charities in the greater Fredericton region in a wide range of areas including: Arts, Culture & Heritage; Belonging & Engagement; Environment & Animal Welfare; Food Security, Housing & Economy; Health, Wellness & Recreation; and, Literacy & Education. We offer three types of grants.

 

Community Grants

Deadline: February 29th, 2024

These grants support a wide variety of programs and projects that benefit the greater Fredericton community. The grants are awarded once per year, and the amounts typically range from $500 to $7,500. The application period has closed.

Rosemary’s Pantry Grants

Deadline: May 8th 2024

These grants are awarded every spring and are given to projects that tackle the dilemma of student-aged youth hunger in the greater Fredericton region. In 2023, we distributed over $17,500 in grants to help support this community need. The program is now open to applications.

Game ChANGER GRANT

Deadline: October 1st, 2024

With up to $30,000 available, this grant provides a solution to an immediate community need by funding a new project from a charitable organization. Applications for the Game Changer Grant open on September 1st and are due by October 2nd, 2023. The Fredericton Community Foundation will announce the recipient in November.

Eligibility

The following types of organizations are eligible for a grant from the Fredericton Community Foundation:

  • A registered Canadian charity

  • A registered Canadian amateur athletic association

  • A Canadian municipality in the greater Fredericton region

  • Her Majesty in right of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick and agents thereof (Federal and Provincial Government and Agencies such as schools).

The following activities are ineligible for a grant from the Fredericton Community Foundation:

  • political and religious activities (this does not preclude religious organizations from applying if they are delivering a project / program to the community that is not religious or faith based)

  • Fundraising campaigns

  • Core operating expenses unless it is critical to mission delivery

  • Deficit financing and the retirement of debt.

Our Community Investment Areas

Applications must benefit communities in the greater Fredericton region and generally fall within the following investment areas:

Arts, Culture & Heritage
Support the cultivation and education of music, fine arts, multiculturalism and history in our community.

Belonging & Engagement
Develop opportunities to volunteer in our community and foster meaningful connections between youth, families and seniors.

Environment & Animal Welfare
Protect, restore and promote the welfare of animals, territories and ecosystems for future generations.

Food Security, Housing & Economy
Help create a community where everyone has equal access to shelter, food and employment, building a future where everyone can thrive.

Health, Wellness & Recreation
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

Literacy & Education
Promote inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
