Meals on Wheels & CÉ D’ICI Receive Game-Changer Grant to Expand School Food Services Across the Greater Fredericton Region

Last night, at the For Good Forever Showcase, the Fredericton Community Foundation awarded its 2025 Game-Changer Grant to a first-of-its-kind partnership between Meals on Wheels of Fredericton and Le Collectif Économique d’Innovation Culturelle et Identitaire (CÉ D’ICI), two local social enterprises joining forces to tackle a growing challenge: student food insecurity.

The For Good Forever Showcase is the Foundation’s annual celebration of local impact, bringing together donors, partners, and charities to reflect on shared progress and hear stories of the lives touched through generosity.

This year’s $30,000 grant will support the launch of the Partnership for the Expansion of Food Services in Schools in the Greater Fredericton Area and Local Food Security. The initiative will deliver fresh, affordable, locally sourced meals to more than 1,000 students across the Francophone South and Anglophone West School Districts, starting this school year.

Meet the Recipients

Meals on Wheels of Fredericton is a long-standing, community-driven organization dedicated to improving food access for seniors and vulnerable adults through affordable, nutritious meal delivery.

CÉ D’ICI is a non-profit social enterprise managing francophone school cafeterias, Café CÉ D’ICI, and a catering service, all rooted in values of health, local sourcing, and reinvestment in the community.

Together, they’re combining capacity and expertise to build something neither could do alone: Creating a model that strengthens food security, supports local producers, and meets the needs of both students and families

Shaped by You. Shared with All.

This year’s Game-Changer Grant reflects what this funding is all about: collaboration, innovation, and bold steps toward a stronger community.

“This project is not just about meals…It’s about connection, inclusion, and long-term vision,” said Marc Allain, Project Manager, during the announcement. “It brings together two trusted organizations, two school systems, and two cultural communities under one shared purpose: building a better community for all.”

Our Thanks to You

To our donors, local charities, and the wider community: THANK YOU. Your generosity, time, and trust make initiatives like this possible.

Together, we’re investing in children, supporting local food systems, and creating lasting impact, one meal, one school, and one community at a time.
