Community Foundation Awards $28,500 Impact Grant

The Fredericton Community Foundation announced on National Philanthropy Day - November 15th, that it has selected Partners for Youth and the Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre to receive this year’s Impact Grants. The grants are valued at $20,000 and $8,500, respectively.

“The Impact Grants will help to launch two new and innovative projects that will significantly impact youth mental health and intimate partner violence,” said the Chair of the Fredericton Community Foundation, Traci Simmons. “To provide the much-needed funding to kickstart these projects is our way of giving back to our community.”

Partners for Youth will use the funds to launch a new service focused on providing counselling therapy for at risk youth in our community. The Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre will use the Impact Grant to launch “iHeal – Nurses Working with Women Experiencing Intimate Partner Violence to Improve Health and Wellness.”

In addition to the $8,500 Impact Grant, the Downtown Fredericton Community Health Centre will also receive $2,000 from the Fred and Gladys Memorial Fund, a donor-advised fund held at the Foundation. This ensures the iHEAL project will be fully funded and able to run at full capacity.

The Impact Grant is awarded annually to worthy projects that will have a significant impact on our community. Applicants can request up to $30,000 and the funding is provided through our Community Fund. This year alone, 20 applications were received, requesting over $440,000 in funding to support various community needs.

The Impact Grants were awarded at a reception hosted by the Honourable, Her Honour, Brenda L. Murphy, Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick, at Government House on National Philanthropy Day 2021. The annual reception was once again hosted in-person, with limited attendees.

Without the support of many caring donors, the Impact Grant would not be possible. Many donations contribute to the funding for the Impact Grant, and a sincere thank you is extended to all donors.
