Constable Robb Costello, a dedicated 20-year veteran, and Constable Sara Burns, a compassionate officer with a promising career ahead, alongside Donald Adam Robichaud and Bobbie Lee Wright, were among the four lives lost in a tragedy that forever changed us. As we remember these heroes, we also find hope in the enduring legacy they've left behind.

August 10th, A Day That Unites Us:

Five years ago, on this very day, Constables Robb Costello and Sara Burns, along with two civilians, faced an unimaginable tragedy - a shooting, unlike any our Fredericton community had ever witnessed. The names of the fallen became etched in the city's history, and this shared sorrow united us as a community.

Cst. Robb Costello, Dedication Beyond Duty:

With a 20-year journey in law enforcement, Robb Costello's legacy is one of service. His roles were many. His commitment reached beyond the force; he was a loving partner and devoted father. Costello's dedication to safeguarding our community permeated every aspect of his life.

Cst. Sara Burns, Keeping Her Memory Alive:

Sara Burns, rooted in the community and fueled by passion, became an integral part of the Fredericton Police Force. Her dedication extended beyond her badge - she actively engaged in charitable endeavours, including fundraising for domestic violence victims. Beyond her role as an officer, she was a devoted mother and beloved partner.

A Legacy of Unity:

In remembering Constables Robb Costello and Sara Burns, we also recognize the enduring legacy they've left behind—the Cst. Robb Costello Memorial Fund and Sara Burns Forever Fund, both held by the Fredericton Community Foundation, are living testaments to their commitment to positive change. These funds ensure their legacies live on while supporting causes close to their hearts - community service, compassion, and protection.

For those seeking to honor their memory, contributing to the Cst. Robb Costello Memorial Fund and Sara Burns Forever Fund create a tangible impact, preserving their legacies and championing causes that embody their values.

As we pause to reflect on the fifth anniversary of Constables Robb Costello and Sara Burns loss, we stand together as a resilient community. This day serves as a reminder that the well-being of our community necessitates collective effort. Their legacies live on through us, a community that remembers, honours, and stands united, showing that even in the face of adversity, the spirit of #FrederictonStrong prevails.
